Aesthetic: A Serene Blend of English Luxurious Classics and American Stylish Grace

A Unique Residential Space Designed by Lin Ching Wei

The client's vision of a serene paradise for the mind and soul comes to life in this residential space located in Danshui, New Taipei City. Renowned designer Lin Ching Wei skillfully combines the syntax of arts and design to create a simple beige and light grey space that exudes English luxurious classics and American stylish grace.

One of the standout features of this design is the seamless mix and match of materials, which adds a comprehensive freestyle element to the space. The influence of Victorian style, originating from Great Britain and spreading to Pennsylvania, U.S., is evident throughout the living room and dining area. These spaces serve as a gathering place for family members to enjoy their parent-child relationships and entertain guests, showcasing the spacious momentum achieved through a well-thought-out layout on the first floor.

The central stairway connecting all four floors of the house becomes another focal point of the design. With its elevated design, the stairway not only serves its functional purpose but also adds visual interest to the space. The plain beige walls and scoured white marble kitchen with a sink create a cohesive visual aesthetic. The island table and comfortable chairs are further enhanced by the multiple reflections from the cast iron chandelier and the natural light streaming in from the outdoors.

The indoor area of this residential space spans approximately 400 square feet, providing ample room for the designer to bring their vision to life. Lin Ching Wei, the creative director behind this project, has meticulously crafted each detail to ensure a harmonious and inviting atmosphere.

Upon entering the hallway, one is immediately captivated by the aesthetic imagination that blends sentimental arts with rational design. The integration of the living room, dining room, and kitchen on the first floor creates a space reminiscent of New York uptown, radiating the grace, pleasure, and beauty of past Victorian style.

The kitchen, separated from the living room by a wallboard, showcases the designer's consideration for the client's cooking habits. The island table with a sink is strategically placed to allow for separation from the long dining table, creating a space that embodies the family's spontaneous and carefree spirit. The study room, adorned in neutral tones of brown and grey white, provides a tranquil environment for focused work. The calm and subtle desk, paired with a shiny golden table lamp, serves as the focal point of the study room, reflecting the client's passion for arts and reading.

The second floor of the house serves as a multifunctional social platform, housing a fitness room and guest house. This floor not only provides accommodation for guests and friends but also serves as a LOHAS (Lifestyle of Health and Sustainability) premise, allowing individuals to relax their body, mind, and soul. The master room on the third floor features a sophisticated blend of light purple and grey white, with delicate wooden planks that embody classic European culture. Soft arts, flowery wallpaper, and curtains further enhance the subtle, comfortable, and majestic quality of the room.

Lin Ching Wei's design for this residential space successfully captures the essence of English luxurious classics and American stylish grace. The combination of beige and light grey tones, along with the incorporation of Victorian style elements, creates a serene atmosphere reminiscent of a bygone era. The attention to detail and thoughtful layout make this space a true oasis for the mind and soul.
